Team Retreats

Empower your team in the Drakensberg mountains, or at your preferred venue...

Investing in a retreat is a meaningful way to boost your team’s performance, well-being, and overall job satisfaction.

I facilitate coaching and training retreats designed to foster individual growth, collaboration, and a stronger sense of teamwork. Drawing on years of experience, I help teams work better together, using proven coaching tools to align everyone in the same direction — productively and happily.

Set in the tranquil Drakensberg Mountains at my partnered venue, Montusi Mountain Lodge, or a location of your choice, these retreats are tailored to meet your team’s unique needs. Popular options include Making Work Work For You and Your Team and Burnout Recovery and Prevention.

Each retreat features team-building activities designed to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and create a shared vision. Through engaging exercises and challenges, your team will discover new ways to collaborate, harness hidden strengths, and build a cohesive, unified group.

Making Work Work For You and Your Team

The Making Work Work For You retreat, inspired by my book of the same name, draws on years of coaching experience to offer practical insights and easy-to-apply skills that help participants and teams thrive in their work environment.

Using the Wheel of Work as the foundation, this retreat helps individuals and teams pinpoint what is and isn’t working at work. Beyond identifying challenges, it equips participants with the tools, strategies, and resilience needed to create meaningful, lasting improvements.

A week before the retreat, each team member completes a survey to highlight key areas for growth. This feedback shapes the retreat programme, ensuring it optimises work processes, boosts productivity, and fosters a happy, balanced work environment. Together, we address common workplace challenges and introduce practical solutions to reduce stress, improve workload management, and support a healthier work-life balance.

Whether your team struggles with a lack of psychological safety, poor cohesion, relentless stress, toxic relationships, or insufficient balance, this retreat takes participants on a journey of self-discovery, insight, and empowerment — building their commitment to becoming part of the solution.

Burnout Recovery and Prevention

Burnout is becoming an increasingly common reason for resignation, especially among leaders and managers. For many, burnout becomes so debilitating that functioning — even imagining the possibility of recovery — feels out of reach. These resignations are taking a growing toll on the sustainability of organisations and the well-being of their teams.

By the time most people seek help, burnout has already progressed to a point of severe physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion. Reversing its effects can take immense time and effort. However, burnout is preventable. With the right training, individuals can learn how to avert it. Armed with the proper knowledge, tools, and practices, organisations can foster a culture that prioritises well-being, integrates healthy habits, and develops a shared commitment to sustained health and resilience.

The Burnout Recovery and Prevention retreat helps teams build a shared understanding of burnout — its causes, effects, and solutions — using a compassionate and accessible framework. It equips participants with essential concepts and tools to manage and prevent burnout in a sustainable and proactive way. Through the retreat, teams will:

  • Recognise and understand the systemic nature of burnout and its impact — physically, emotionally, mentally, relationally, and spiritually.
  • Identify key symptoms and root causes of burnout.
  • Learn simple yet effective tools to manage burnout, reduce overwhelm, and build resilience.
  • Develop strategies to manage time and energy wisely for sustainable well-being.

This retreat empowers individuals and teams to create healthier, more balanced ways of working — building the resilience needed to thrive both personally and professionally.

  • “Judy's Make Work Work For You workshop was the best gift I could give myself - a focused few hours with no outside distractions to engage with some issues which had been bothering me but which I always felt I didn't have enough time to really think about. I left the workshop with a range of new ideas, and practical actionable items ranging from something I could do the very next day to steps I wanted to take over the coming weeks and months.” Mieke
  • “I thoroughly enjoyed Making Work Work for me. Since the workshop I have enjoyed lunch time breaks away from my laptop. The Wheel of Work exercise was such an eye opener for me. I am more mindful that I need to nuture myself outside of work too. How to restore and energise myself so I don't burn out is so important. I am more than just my work self. I highly recommend working with Judy, she is encouraging and you deserve to do this course for yourself.” Gwynnevere Salgado

  • “This has been a life changing programme for me. I kept feeling that it was custom designed specifically for me: from the title which grabbed my attention immediately, to the course outline which spoke to my heart and soul, and then to the session content and application which has tested my being from the roots to the tips of my branches. I realise now that there are many souls who have been lost and searching just like me. After six weeks I feel alive, vibrant, hopeful and at ease for the first time that I can remember.” Brenda Scott
